Questions you should be asking during an interview. . .
1. What do you enjoy the most about working for this company?
The interviewer should not hesitate when answering this question. If they do, something is wrong. Remember that the interview is NOT an interrogation. The interviewer wants to determine whether or not you fit the company's culture and, in some cases, a specific team.
2. What are the company's goals for the next 12 months?
Often this information is not posted on a company's website. By asking this question during the interview, you will gain a better perspective about their goals, their team assignments, and where you will fit-in if hired.
3. What skills do I need to possess that can best help the team I'll work with?
Remember, software development is a collaborative effort. Demonstrating that you are team-minded is a plus. Also, if you are lacking skills that the interviewer seeks for a specific team, this is a great time to get the interviewer's feedback, instead of leaving the interview wondering if you met the mark. Additionally, sometimes you might forget to highlight a skill you possess; this is a great opportunity to follow-up with, "I neglected to highlight that I do have the following. . ."
